Points
We track points for each rider and team. Points are calculated
by giving 0.5 point for each team a team beats based on final results. As well, there is 5 bonus
points for 1st, 4 bonus points for 2nd, 3 bonus points for 3rd, 2 bonus points
for 4th and 1 bonus point for 5th.

CATPA Operates under CTCPA Rules With Additional
Club Rules Listed Below
2010 Rule changes posted in RED
- Team and individual cancellations must be received 24
hours prior to show start time. Any cancellations later than this will be
subject to a $50.00 cattle fee before you ride in another CATPA show.
- Substitutions must be made at least 24 hours prior to
the show. Extenuating circumstances will be taken into account.
- Unknown on team must be named at least half an hour
before posting time. Only one unknown will be allowed to register for a
team.
- All show entries are entered through the Show
Secretary. All queries in regard to show entries will be directed to the
Show Secretary.
- Year End Prizes will be
awarded based on point standings accumulated by teams and individual
members from their best
seven (7) out of the ten (10) sanctioned shows.
The number of
qualifying shows shall be determined annually by the executive. The Board
may accept a substitution of equal or lesser number as a result of a medical
problem occurring at any individual show. This substitution may be used in
point accumulation.
- Three cross entries are allowed per class,
with
exceptions as noted below. A cross entry constitutes changing out two
riders. Each rider may ride a maximum of three times in
the Open and 10 classes. The 4th ride Limited Open rules in item 23
below. There will now be a 4th ride available to the 7 class that will
be a draw team. Desired entry in
the draw class will be made known to the show secretary with the same entry
deadline as the other entries, teams will be drawn from the available
entries to maximize the team entry rating number. The 5 class
is allowed to ride a maximum of 4 times,
a rider's 4th ride only requires a one rider change-out
team.
- Entry fees are : $42.00 per rider. Open class rider fees are $50 per rider. The $8 will be added
directly to the Open class payout. Limited Open rider fees are $60
per rider.
- Each rider is ultimately responsible for his own entry
fees.
- Deadline for show entries is 8:00 P.M. Tuesday
prior to the show date.
- Shows start at 8:00 A.M.
- Late entries in all sanctioned classes will be
accepted provided cattle are available.
- Order of go will be posted before 8:00 A.M. for the
Open Class.
- Classes with 70 or more teams will be 1/3 back, with
the exception of the 5 Class, it will have half back.
- You must be a paid CATPA / CTCPA member before you can
compete. Your CATPA/ CTCPA rating card must be visible on your saddle at all
times during competition.
- There will be a $25.00 NSF - cheque fee payable before
being allowed to compete again.
- Each rider must have entered 50% of
the sanctioned shows in order to qualify for the
Regional finals.
- Senior youth class is capped as a 6 Class
- Junior and Senior Youth will be allowed to cross enter
between classes.
- Junior youth must wear helmets.
- All herds of fresh cattle must be run through the pen
before being used for the first time. This would include all cattle herds
regardless of when they have been settled previously. If a herd is
removed before all numbers have been used, the herd may be brought back in
to finish all numbers.
- Time allowed for Open, Ten and Seven Class will be 60
seconds. Five Class and Senior youth is 75 seconds. Junior Youth 90
seconds.
- Cattle Line will be at 40% of arena. If the
working area is more than 200 feet, then the cattle line may be positioned
at 30%.
