Points

We track points for each rider and team. Points are calculated by giving 0.5 points for each team a team beats based on final results. As well, there is 5 bonus points for 1st, 4 bonus points for 2nd, 3 bonus points for 3rd, 2 bonus points for 4th and 1 bonus points for 5th.

CATPA RULES 2008

CATPA Operates under CTCPA Rules With Additional Club Rules Listed Below

1. Team and individual cancellations must be received 24 hours prior to show start time. Any cancellations later than this will be subject to a $50.00 cattle fee before you ride in another CATPA show.
2. Substitutions must be made at least 24 hours prior to the show. Extenuating circumstances will be taken into account.
3. Unknown on team must be named at least half an hour before posting time. Only one unknown will be allowed to register for a team.
4. All show entries are entered through the Show Secretary. All queries in regard to show entries will be directed to the Show Secretary.
5. Year End Prizes will be awarded based on point standings accumulated by teams and individual members from their best six (6) sanctioned shows. The number of qualifying shows shall, be determined annually by the executive. The Board may accept a substitution of equal or lesser number as a result of a medical problem occurring at any individual show. This substitution may be used in point accumulation.
6. Three cross entries are allowed per class (with exception of Limited Open). A cross entry constitutes changing out two riders. Each rider may ride a maximum of three times per class. This including riding as a substitute.
7. Each rider is ultimately responsible for his own entry fees.
8. Deadline for show entries is 8:00 P.M. Tuesday prior to the show date.
9. Shows start at 8:00 A.M.
10. Late entries in all sanctioned classes will be accepted provided cattle are available.
11. Order of go will be posted before 8:00 A.M. for the Open Class.
12. Classes with 70 or more teams will be 1/3 back, with the exception of the 5 Class, it will have half back.
13. You must be a paid CATPA / CTCPA member before you can compete. Your CATPA/ CTCPA rating card must be visible on your saddle at all times during competition.
14. There will be a $25.00 NSF - cheque fee payable before being allowed to compete again.
15. Each rider must have entered six (6) out of ten (10) shows in order to qualify for the finals.
16. Senior youth class is capped as a 6 Class
17. Junior and Senior Youth will be allowed to cross enter between classes.
18. Junior youth must wear helmets.
19. All herds of fresh cattle must be run through the pen before being used for the first time.  This would include all cattle herds regardless of when they have been settled previously.  If a herd is removed before all numbers have been used, the herd may be brought back in to finish all numbers.
20. Time allowed for Open, Ten and Seven Class will be 60 seconds.  Five Class and Senior youth is 75 seconds. Junior Youth 90 seconds.
21. Cattle Line will be at 40% of arena.  If the working area is more than 200 feet, then the cattle line may be positioned at 30%.

22. Limited Open 11 Class Rules

•  Total team Rating has to be 11 or less

• Allow you to enter Open Class 4 times. One out of the four teams must be limited open, or one must be an Open team out of your four teams.

Example:  3 Open Teams & 1 Limited Team

                            2 Open Teams & 2 Limited Teams

                            1 Open Team & 3 Limited Teams

• Open Team has the option of running in the Limited Open by changing out one rider. For example riders with ratings 4-4-5, can change rider with rating 5 to new rider with rating of 3 or less to compete in the Limited Open. Limited ONLY teams must change out 2 riders.

• All points go towards the Open Class

• Limited Teams will pay an additional $10.00 per/ person/ per/ team.

Total of $30.00 per Team

• Payout for the Limited Open will be subject to the number of teams that enter.

            Payout is based on the  $10.00 per/ person/ per/ team. Total $30.00 per team.

            1-15 teams: 1^st-65%, 2^nd 35%

            1-30 teams: 1^st-50%, 2^nd-30% and 3^rd-20%

• All Limited Class Teams must be clearly entered.

        All CATPA and CTCPA show rules and regulations apply.
